Meet Drifty, your co-pilot.
Most trip planners hand you a blank map. Drifty asks where you feel like going, then does the awkward part: which order, how far each day, and what is actually worth stopping for.
Example · You asked: somewhere warm in late September, about a week
Late September is a good call for Utah. The heat has broken, the crowds thin out after Labor Day, and you get low sun through the canyons in the afternoon.
Why this route works
- Zion and Bryce sit two hours apart, so neither day is a long drive
- Capitol Reef is the quiet one, and it breaks up the run to Moab
- Scenic Byway 12 between Bryce and Capitol Reef is the drive itself
The headline canyon, and the shuttle makes it easy without a car day.
Hoodoos at sunrise. Worth the early alarm on day three.
Long-running kitchen on Byway 12, roughly halfway.
Parks are checked against the National Park Service list before Drifty shows them. Anything it cannot confirm is marked, so you know which suggestions to look up before you drive there. Drifty is an AI and can get details wrong, so check hours, prices and road conditions before you go. Drifty is included with DriftKin Pro.
On the home screen
Start with nothing but a rough idea. Drifty asks what kind of trip you want, then hands you a full route you can open in the planner.
While you plan
It can see the route you are building, so suggestions land between two specific stops. Tap one and it becomes a real waypoint.
On a saved trip
Ask about the trip you already have. How long is day three, what to pack, which leg to drive early.
Three steps. One open road.
Drop your pins
Origin, destination, and any worth-the-detour stops in between.
Compare the legs
Alternative roads with timing, distance, and tolls — pick the one that fits.
Hit the road
Hand it off to your nav app and check off legs as you drive.
Questions, answered.
Is DriftKin free?
DriftKin has a free plan. It lets you plan and save a single-day trip with a couple of stops between your start and end, share it, and join any trip someone shares with you. Pro removes those limits and adds Drifty, the AI co-pilot. The current limits are always shown in the app, and Pro pricing has not been announced yet.
Does the AI make up places that do not exist?
Every national park Drifty suggests is checked against the National Park Service list before you see it. Restaurants and towns cannot be verified the same way, so those are marked as unconfirmed rather than presented as fact, and Drifty is told to favour long-established places over anything recent. Drifty is still an AI and can get details like hours or prices wrong, so check anything important before you go.
Can I plan a trip over several days?
Yes, with Pro. Add as many days as the trip needs. Each day gets its own start, stops, and end, and the planner keeps the running distance and drive time for the whole trip as well as for the day you are editing. The free plan covers single-day trips.
Can I plan a road trip with friends?
Share an invite link and anyone with it can open the trip and edit stops from their own phone. Useful the night before, when everyone suddenly has an opinion about breakfast.
Does it show tolls and weather?
Both. You get a toll estimate per leg and a per-stop weather forecast for the date you are travelling, so a mountain pass in October is less of a surprise. Both are estimates, so check with the toll operator and an official forecast before you set off.
Which countries does DriftKin work in?
Routing and place search work anywhere Google Maps covers. The national parks and trip stamps features are built around the United States National Park Service, so those are US-focused for now.
Do I need an account?
Only to save a trip or share it. An account is what syncs your trips across devices and lets other people join a trip you are planning.
